Corbion to Enhance AI-Powered Listeria Control Model, with New Features for Greater Food Safety

New features to include enhanced dynamic temperature modeling and deep-chill simulation, empowering manufacturers to improve food safety and accelerate product development.

Corbion is set to launch significant enhancements to its on-line AI-powered Corbion Listeria Control Model in Q1 of 2025, further strengthening its ability to help food manufacturers combat Listeria contamination. The upgraded model will feature improved dynamic temperature variation capabilities and the addition of deep-chill conditions to better reflect real-world storage environments.

The enhanced dynamic temperature feature will give manufacturers more precise control over how products perform under fluctuating storage conditions—whether in production, retail, or consumer use. Meanwhile, the introduction of deep-chill simulation, a storage method commonly used to extend the shelf life of meats and ready-to-eat items, will address the specific risks of Listeria, which can still survive at low temperatures.

“By integrating deep-chill and refining our temperature modeling, we’re giving manufacturers the tools to manage Listeria risks in a wider variety of storage conditions,” said David Charest, Senior Vice President, Functional Ingredients and Solutions at Corbion. “These updates empower producers to protect their products more effectively and meet industry safety standards.”

The enhancements will also expand the model’s applications to include plant-based food products, reflecting the need for Listeria control in the growing alternative protein market.

Backed by over 20 years of Listeria control data, Corbion’s Listeria Control Model uses key parameters like temperature, pH, water activity, and salt content to help manufacturers identify the optimal antimicrobial strategy. The model supports natural preservation solutions such as Corbion’s patented vinegar-based portfolio.

“Our goal is to give manufacturers a comprehensive tool that ensures product safety across a range of environments and food types while helping them bring products to market faster,” added Charest.

Expected to launch in Q1 2025, the upgraded AI powered Listeria Control Model will help manufacturers confidently address Listeria risks, improve food safety, and accelerate their speed to market.
