The 2024 Interpoma – superior quality at the 13th Edition

The figures of the 13th Interpoma edition confirm its runway success thanks to the dynamic, new, and innovative solutions and contents showcased, aiming was to provide new opportunities for the entire apple-growing industry. The Interpoma is the only international apple trade show and it attracts global stakeholders every two years to the Fiera Bolzano.

The event took place between November 21 and 23 and registered 16,000 visitors and 400 exhibitors – three days of agricultural and technological excellence under one roof.

The numerous participants at the events speak to the consolidation of a discerning and high-quality audience consisting of industry experts and visitors. These events were the two-day Congress as well as the nine Interpoma Tours – guided tours for industry stakeholders and the press wanting to discover South Tyrolean best practice.

As the 2024 Interpoma closes, exhibitors and industry stakeholders return home satisfied, having travelled from over 60 countries spanning the seven continents – from Brazil, through the United States and India to New Zealand.

Thomas Mur, Fiera Bolzano’s Director, says: “This trade show’s success, which is one of a kind in the world, is growing from strength to strength. This confirms South Tyrol’s apple industry’s leading role as an international benchmark for innovation. This edition boasted over 400 outstanding exhibitors, and its high-level agenda is one of the main pull factors which yet again attracts visitors from all over the globe to Bolzano.”

Giulia Montanaro, Interpoma Brand Manager, is also satisfied: “Interpoma is where we discover the trends of the future. The choice to focus on the orchards of the future and showcase unprecedented digital technologies and new growing strategies has paid off vis-a-vis Congress footfall – also thanks to the expertise of speakers and companies from all over the world.”

The Trade Show’s Main Stars

Silvia Albanese works at Sorma Group’s Marketing Department, a top company which develops and builds complete machinery, packaging and sorting lines for fruits and vegetables after they have been harvested. She cannot help but be satisfied: “This Interpoma edition was a runaway success for our company. We met our clients as well as being the object of great interest by visitors, including Russian stakeholders, among other nationalities. We have been Interpoma exhibitors right from the very first editions and, over time, our presence and visibility have grown. An investment which has always paid off, so much so that we always look forward to coming back to the next edition.”

Henk Nooteboom, researcher at Horti Grafting, an international consultancy company specializing in growing, research, and sales strategies for the fruits sector, confirms Interpoma’s key role on the international trade show circuit. “The 2024 Interpoma has been an extraordinary experience right from the moment we first took part in it. This trade show is, without a doubt, the most qualified from a technological point of view thanks to industry stakeholders, experts, and researchers participating. This excellence is what attracts all specialized companies which wish to increase their sales network.”

The Interpoma Award Goes to Technologies which Support an Orchard’s Sustainable Management

The 2024 Interpoma Award is awarded by a Jury which assessed sixteen candidates. The aim is to reward the most promising technology which can reduce carbon footprint and fertilizer and phytosanitary products from being used in an orchard. The Visitors’ Choice Award was introduced for this time at the 2024 edition.

SporeScout by BioScout – Winner

SporeScout’s innovative technology precisely monitors and provides early diagnoses of fungal diseases on the ground. It leverages the IoT and combines advanced robotic microscopy, artificial vision and AI technologies. The Jury acknowledged how SporeScout could contribute to extraordinary progress when it comes to sustainably managing phytosanitary products to protect the apple orchard.

Agromanager by Agromanager – Honorable Mention

Agromanager is an efficient digital platform used for running an apple farm’s everyday business thanks to an innovative ICT framework. It is a modern corporate management and information system which can meet Smart Agriculture demands thanks to its ease of use and flexibility. Agromanager transfers information needed for a variety of decision-making processes, including automated strategies tailored to specific areas of the orchard thanks to its irrigation and fertilization system control.

Agromanager also won the Visitors’ Choice Award, with over 700 visitors voting on the trade show’s first day.

Trapview by Trapview – Honorable Mention

Trapview is a new tool which aids crop protection – it monitors and forecasts which insects can damage orchards. It stands out for its ease of use, and its agile system is better than the longer times required by manual traps and allows apple-growers and consultancy services to manage the monitoring system efficiently and remotely. The product’s potential to reduce the use of phytosanitary products mirrors the Award’s criteria, as it forecasts which insects to fight and, therefore, improves the sustainability of apple orchard management.

Interpoma’s next edition will be held in November 2026. Until then, you can explore the 2024 Interpoma themes by downloading the online version of the “ipoma”. The digital magazine provides an interactive reading experience also thanks to videos and audiobooks which can be accessed by scanning QR codes.
