Sustainability, International Trust, and the Support of the ANFACO‑CYTMA Ecosystem for Spanish Canned Fish and Seafood

Sustainability has become a strategic pillar for the Spanish canning industry. The sector actively works toward the responsible use of marine resources, improved traceability, energy efficiency, and the reduction of environmental impact throughout the entire value chain. This approach responds both to environmental responsibility and to the expectations of international markets. More and more, global operators prioritize suppliers aligned with the principles of the blue economy and sustainable development. In this context, the Spanish industry has made significant progress, integrating sustainability as part of its industrial model and value proposition.

 International trust and export-driven focus

The sector’s export‑oriented nature is supported by decades of international experience. Spanish canned fish and seafood -with Galicia as their flagship- are present in numerous markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East, demonstrating a proven ability to meet demanding volumes, timelines, and regulatory requirements. This track record has fostered commercial relationships built on trust and stability. For international operators, Spain represents a solid industrial ecosystem capable of acting as a long‑term strategic partner. Beyond the product itself, the sector offers expertise, adaptability, and reliability—key elements in an increasingly complex commercial environment.

A structured sector supported by ANFACO-CYTMA

A distinctive factor of this model is the role of ANFACO‑CYTMA. ANFACO, as the leading association of the Spanish seafood processing and canning industry, and CYTMA, as a cutting‑edge technological center, work together to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness and international projection. Through industry representation, innovation support, technological assistance, and international promotion activities,

ANFACO‑CYTMA helps position the sector as a solid and trustworthy partner in global markets. Its work facilitates the connection between industry, knowledge, and international business opportunities.

This integrated ecosystem enhances the appeal of Spain—and particularly Galicia—as a leading region in the canning sector. For professional markets, it represents a coherent, sustainable, and long‑term collaboration proposal aligned with current and future demands of the international food industry. In this context, ANFACO‑CYTMA will participate in Gulfood Dubai 2026, together with the Conselleria do Mar of the Xunta de Galicia. From January 26 to 30, at Dubai Expo City, World Food area, stands 22–80, the sector will showcase its industrial capacity, commitment, and international vision at one of the world’s major food hubs.

ANFACO-CYTMA will be present at Gulfood Dubai 2026, together with the Conselleria do Mar of the Xunta de Galicia. You can find us from January 26 to 30 at Dubai Expo City, World Food area, Stands 22-80.
