Thai SELECT Tour 2025: The Culinary Journey Continues in the UAE

Dubai, UAE:

The Thai Trade Center Dubai proudly launches the Thai SELECT Tour 2025: The Culinary Journey Continues, an initiative designed to elevate the recognition of Thai SELECT certified restaurants and promote authentic Thai cuisine in the UAE. Taking place from May 10 to 30, 2025, the tour will spotlight the rich culinary heritage of Thailand by inviting food influencers to explore and experience signature dishes from over 43 Thai SELECT certified restaurants across the Emirates.

The tour kicked off on May 10 at the Lobby Lounge, Dusit Thani Dubai, where Miss Nipa Nirannoot, Consul – General of the Kingdom of Thailand to Dubai, together with Mr. Pitichai Ratananaka, Executive Director of the Thai Trade Center Dubai, welcomed the influencers with warm traditional Thai drinks and an introduction to the campaign. The influencers then set off on a journey onboard the Thai SELECT bus, engaging in interactive games and learning about the essence of the Thai SELECT certification along the way.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ratananaka said, “Thai cuisine holds a special place in the hearts of many around the world. Through the Thai SELECT Tour 2025, we aim to enhance the visibility of Thai SELECT certified restaurants, encouraging food enthusiasts to experience authentic Thai culinary excellence. The tour not only highlights the diversity of Thai flavours but also reinforces the credibility and quality that Thai SELECT represents.”

For over two decades, Thai SELECT has promoted and built global trust in Thai restaurants and food products. In April 2025, the Ministry of Commerce launched a new logo aimed at elevating Thai SELECT into a global brand that powerfully communicates with consumers worldwide. The redesigned logo, featuring a ‘Star of Honor’ shaped like an orchid, symbolizes international quality, authentic Thai taste, and a charming dining experience.

With the continued global popularity of Thai cuisine, there are now over 18,852 Thai restaurants worldwide, of which 1,779 have received the Thai SELECT certification.

The elevated Thai SELECT certification will now be awarded across four tiers: Thai SELECT 1 Star, 2 Stars, 3 Stars, and Thai SELECT Casual, covering everything from affordable local eateries to premium fine-dining restaurants offering exquisite Thai cuisine. The assessment criteria have also been tightened, focusing on five main aspects: flavour and presentation, ambience and customer experience, hygiene standards, chef expertise, and ingredient quality.

Thai SELECT is a guarantee that a restaurant offers authentic and high-standard Thai food. The new star-based system is similar to the familiar Michelin Star standard. The Ministry of Commerce is also stepping up its communication strategy for Thai SELECT through domestic and international marketing campaigns, while expanding to new media platforms—including developing online games—to reach a younger global audience.

This initiative positions Thai cuisine as a soft power that drives the country’s economy, aligned with the government’s policy to boost income by increasing product value andenhancing Thailand’s image as the “Kitchen of the World.” In the future, the ministry aimsfor people around the world to recognize that if you’re looking for quality Thai food, lookfor the Thai SELECT mark. You’ll be assured of a truly authentic Thai experience. If arestaurant fails to maintain its standards, its star rating will be downgraded to ensureconsumers always receive the best.

About Thai SELECT

The Thai SELECT certification, awarded by Thailand’s Department of International TradePromotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce, signifies the authenticity of Thaicuisine served at certified restaurants. The certification is classified into four tiers – ThaiSELECT 1 Star, 2 Stars, 3 Stars, and Thai SELECT Casual – based on the quality of food, service, and overall dining experience. In the UAE, the Thai Trade Center Dubai conductsregular inspections to ensure that certified restaurants maintain the high standards requiredto retain their certification.

With a focus on quality and authenticity, Thai SELECT certified restaurants in the UAE offer diners a taste of genuine Thai hospitality and cuisine. The certification not only guarantees the use of authentic ingredients but also emphasizes traditional cooking techniques and an inviting atmosphere. As Thai food continues to gain global recognition, the Thai SELECT mark serves as a symbol of excellence, guiding diners towards quality Thai experiences.
